I fell in love with surveying at a very early age,
and from the very start, I knew that this was what I wanted to do.
Prior to obtaining my state certification in Virginia and North
Carolina, I worked for several small firms in the Hampton Roads
area of Virginia. In 1990, I accepted a position with The Spectra
Group (now JMT) as survey manager. Working for a small firm, I
stayed very busy providing survey for site development projects as
well as working with our Subsurface Utility Engineering Group
providing utility location and mapping for the Virginia Department
of Transportation.
I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "being in the
right place at the right time". Well for me, it was about four and
a half years ago, March, 2007 to be exact. I was informed that our
firm would merge with JMT. As I began to explore and learn more
about the company, I realized that this was a firm moving forward,
a firm who invests in individual growth, a firm who knows how to
succeed, and a firm with staff that lead and mentor others at every
level. As Survey Manager at the Firm's Virginia Beach office, the
transition from a small firm to a large firm has brought both
challenges and opportunity. JMT has provided all the necessary
training and support to keep our group moving forward through these
challenging times. As of today, they have yet to let me down.
With their support, I recently sat for the Maryland State Survey
Exam and received my state certification in January,
2011. I am very excited about the
future and look forward to growing JMT through our employees and
the services we provide.
