Philadelphia, PA - Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. (JMT) is pleased to announce that Lorenzo (Larry) Cruger, P.E. has joined JMT as an Associate of our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office. Mr. Cruger has over 38 years of experience in engineering. He will be responsible for oversight and quality control on structural engineering projects. Mr. Cruger previously served as Chief Bridge Engineer for the City of Philadelphia Department of Streets, where he oversaw the design and construction of all bridges owned by the City. Mr. Cruger began working for the City as an entry-level Engineering Aide I and worked his way up through the department to Bridge Administrative Engineer before being promoted as the first and only African-American to hold the Chief Bridge Engineer position for the City. During Larry's tenure, the unit won twenty awards for prize bridges, such as: - The B and Somerset Bridge over Conrail won the 1985 Master Builders in Steel award from the Mid-Atlantic Steel Fabrication Association.
- The Ashburner Street/AMTRAK Bridge won the 1993 Excellence in Design and Construction award from the Construction Committee of Philadelphia.
Mr. Cruger attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Drexel University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. Larry also has taught courses at both Temple Evening School and Community College of Philadelphia. He is a 33rd degree Master Mason who has been a Prince Hall Freemason for over 49 years and currently serves as Secretary General for the Order. |
