JMT completed the development of Preliminary Investigation, Final, and PS&E level contract documents for the construction of a roadway connecting the Fairfield and Masonville Marine Terminals at the Port of Baltimore. Although the project was only approximately 500 feet in length, its location adjacent to the Patapsco River and within the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area created unique challenges.
JMT incorporated reforestation and Best Management Practices into our design in order to protect the water quality of the nearby tidal areas. We obtained approvals from the Critical Area Commission for Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays, and a Joint Permit for permitting and design of wetland mitigation area. Services provided included:
Topographic surveys
Hydrologic/hydraulic design of two large culverts and two sand filter facilities used for stormwater management
Transportation engineering
Lighting design
Construction administration
