House of Representatives Office Floor Plan Renovat

Under our GSA schedule contract, JMT supported the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) during an especially busy time in Washington.   The AOC's Architecture Division needed short-term, fast-tracked CADD assistance to modify office space in the Rayburn, Cannon, and Longworth House Office Buildings following the November 2006 congressional elections.  The House of Representatives required wholesale floor plan renovations for all three buildings in an extremely short time frame so that incumbent and newly elected officials could move into their office spaces in early 2007.

Five of JMT’s professional CADD staff, after attending training to learn the requirements of the client, worked with Representatives' staffs, including their space planners, architects and aides, to develop office space plans.  At working sessions, the group quickly identified space requirements, layouts, lighting, electrical requirements, wall relocations, and any associated heating, ventilation, or air conditioning modifications.  These requirements were converted from tracing paper to professional construction CADD drawings.  Subsequently, the building modification plans were used by contractors to alter the interiors for congressional offices.  JMT staff remained on-site to alter plans as construction continued, to reflect any actual modifications.  Finally, JMT provided an “as built” record for the AOC.
