| JMT provided final design services for the Lewistown Bypass, a project intended to eliminate heavy through traffic, particularly trucks, from downtown Lewistown. Another benefit would be the encouragement of growth of the Mifflin County Industrial Park due to easier access. The project featured the following aspects: 4 miles of four-lane, limited-access highway on new alignment 3.5 miles of widening and overlay of existing U.S. Route 22 Design of a trumpet interchange with a connector to the industrial park Three-level, fully directional interchange with U.S. Route 322 30 structures: 15 bridges, 14 retaining walls, and 1 noise wall The new alignment, in mountainous terrain, involved cuts in excess of 100 feet in depth
