The need for a long center span to avoid impacts to the waterway, as well as aesthetic considerations, dictated an arch structure. Construction of a causeway in the reservoir provided the platform from which the arch and deck system was erected. Following construction, the waterway was restored, with the causeway material used to stabilize and armor the reservoir banks. The free flow of water was never halted during construction. |
