I-95/Route 630 Interchange Modification

Location: Stafford County, Virginia Client: Virginia Department of Transportation

JMT developed an Interchange Modification Report (IMR) which included crash analysis, analysis of the existing corridor, traffic analysis with CORSIM & SYNCHRO and the analysis of comprehensive plans to develop future traffic.

This project involved the evaluation of the long term needs for reconstruction of the I-95/Route 630 Interchange.  JMT developed existing average daily traffic and peak hour volumes, gathered FAMPO model and performed validation of study area, and developed travel demand forecasts on a peak hour and average daily traffic basis, including the HOT lanes.  Traffic analysis was performed using SYNCHRO, CORSIM and HCS.  JMT professionals also developed measures of effectiveness including levels of service, travel speeds, and queues.  JMT determined needed lane configurations, supervised data collection, developed alternatives for possible new configurations of the interchanges, and developed the Interchange Modification Report.
