Land Surveying for USFWS
Location: Area 4 – Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland
Client: U.S. Department of the Interior – Fish & Wildlife Services
JMT provided the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with a variety
of surveying services.
JMT was selected by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to
provide surveying services at various national fish hatcheries,
national wildlife refuges, other U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
facilities and on private lands as directed by the Contracting
Officer in Area #4 (Northeast), which consists of the states of
Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and West Virginia.
JMT surveying personnel provided a variety of surveying
services, which included establishing horizontal coordinates (North
American Datum 1983) in the relevant State Plane Coordinate System
using GPS surveys, deed and plat research in the appropriate
courthouse or via the internet, right-of-way research from the
various Department of Transportation Offices and Counties, deed
plotting and boundary/tract line re-establishment, monumentation of
tract boundary corners with the proper U.S. Fish and Wildlife
aluminum drive-in monuments and caps, tract descriptions and plats,
and GPS surveys, including differential, static, fast-static and
RTK. Our staff worked closely with each specific Refuge Manager,
coordinating survey crew access to the site and with adjoining land
owners. In some instances, access to specific areas was only
possible by boat. In each instance, JMT crews performed the
specific surveying services without disruption to the Refuge
operations.
