Staten Island US Coast Guard Base Inspection

Location: New York, New York Client: U.S. Coast Guard

JMT performed the mandated five-year structural assessment and inspections at the United States Coast Guard Yard in New York Harbor at the Verrazano Narrows waterway.

JMT, in collaboration with our team, was awarded a five year IDIQ contract with the USCG for on-call services originating from any of the Civil Engineering Units (CEUs) throughout the United States and associated protected areas. All Coast Guard stations have a five year mandate for structural inspection and reporting which is part of the services to be performed. CEU Providence, RI assigned the inspection task to our team as part of this IDIQ contract.

JMT's work on this project included above and below water structural assessments and inspections. JMT performed the above board structural inspections in conjunction with the prime engineering firm.  These inspections included the floating concrete docks where the USCG boats are moored, the riverside breakwaters which are constructed of steel pipe piles with timber wales and lagging, the walkways along the breakwaters and the reinforced concrete boat launch pier with an overhead trolley crane. A diving team was also engaged to do surface-to-air underwater inspection and sampling. A complete facilities assessment report was provided to the USCG which included AutoCad drawings and repair recommendations.
